No decision on EPF rate

The central board of trustees of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation has deferred a decision on fixing the EPF interest rate for 2006-07. The board, which comprises ministry officials, employers and trade union members, met last Tuesday to discuss the EPF issue; it will meet next on December 10. For 2005-06, the EPF rate was 8.5 per cent.

Infosys shareholder ADS

Friday is the last day for shareholders of Infosys Technologies to tender in their shares, in part or in full, towards the companys third shareholder American depository shares issue. Under the issue, Infosys will take 30 million shares from domestic shareholders and sell it as ADS on the US stock exchange Nasdaq. Shareholders registered as on October 27 are eligible to participate in the issue. On Friday, the Infosys stock closed at Rs 2,139 a discount of 11.6 per cent to its Thursdays ADS closing price on the Nasdaq.

LIC to revive lapsed policies

The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has launched a special campaign to revive policies that have lapsed in the past five years. LIC will conduct a medical examination of the policyholder. If it thinks the policyholder is insurable, it will revive the policy, while giving a discount of Rs 200-250 on the interest due on the unpaid premiums. However, in case of an adverse medical report, LIC may refuse to revive the policy or will charge a higher premium. The last date of the campaign is December 15
